Little Sister Astrology

Astrology-Crystals

How I work

If you are looking for someone to take you by the hand, like a little sister, and introduce you to your chart and the language of astrology, that’s me!

My approach conveys the basics of a birth chart in a way that empowers the listener to better understand how to pursue their own interest in astrology.  I am self-taught myself from books, have five years of experiencing reading charts, and I follow the teachings of several professional astrologers.

My work is the offering of a student teacher much more than that of an expert.  I won’t overstep the boundaries of what I know and my style is empowering rather than predictive. Whoever’s chart I’m reading is the authority in their own life, and I am simply offering cosmic commentary. Hopefully, you will be exposed to something new or helpful to you from my perspective.

Card Reading

$22

Tarot and astrology are correlated and I enjoy using them together.  You can add a tarot card reading to your birth chart or synastry reading for more information.  While your chart is an intricate picture of you and your life based on the skies when you were born, a card reading will reflect your energy and subconscious in the moment.

You will receive a picture of your tarot draw and a 15-minute recording or your reading.

Who I am

Bex; she/hers

I fell in love with the language of astrology when my daughter was born. We have the same sun sign and rising sign - and yet her chart is so distinct from mine. In pondering it I found inspiration to believe in myself as a new mother as well as a helpful new perspective on the ways I felt challenged by parenthood.

I was raised by two atheist scientists and had previously considered astrology total BS. The idea that there are twelve types of people made me roll my eyes. When I found out how much more there is to astrology I became intrigued. I acquired a hefty old astrology textbook and was unable to put it down. In a few hours I found I'd absorbed the basics of planets, aspects, houses, and the process of reading charts. I suddenly felt that perhaps English wasn’t my first language after all, and instead my brain might be wired to understand life best through retrogrades and angles.

Having always adored math and poetry, astrology was like a feast I hadn’t known I had an appetite for until took the first bite, and it opened up an enormous hunger in me. Astrology is in no way limited to “12 types of people”, as I’d previously thought, and the staggering complexity thrilled me. You can spend a lifetime studying your own chart and learn something new each day. It’s a magical treasure chest, containing worthy new questions, reflections, and inspiration each time you open it, the hinges never giving out.

Astrology gives my mind something to chew on, something that generates curiosity instead of fear. Badly practiced, astrology and other spiritual and/or religious belief systems give us the illusion of control. The illusion of control is dangerous, in my opinion, because control is simply not possible and the harm we do to others often stems from seeking control. Astrology can help us become comfortable with our desire for control and open up to its unattainability, freeing us to enjoy life as it unfolds and be contented with very narrow sphere of control, typically limited to our own bodies and home.

Politically, astrology reminds us that we have many parts of ourselves that are larger than our individual experiences and are beholden to our family, community, ecosystem, species, and/or the web of life as a whole. In an individualistic society, this is a healing framework to connect to. Astrology can illuminate our potential as leaders to help create a more peaceful and just collective future.

Socially, astrology reminds us that each person’s chart contains all planets, all signs, and all houses, which emphasizes our shared components despite our varied configurations. The language of astrology can encourage us to stay curious about others and willing to see our differences as necessary and complementary rather than worthy of rejection.

Ultimately, being a person is hard! I’m overwhelmed by it regularly, and perpetually in awe of my task as a mother to support another human from scratch as she develops. Life can feel like an abyss and astrology is my method of staring into it and smiling. There are things I’ve known about myself for a long time that I didn’t want to hear from a friend or family member - but when the stars call me out on my issues, I find myself giggling that they can put it so precisely. If you would like to giggle at the stars, too, then take my hand, love, and I’ll show you your stars.
